The heat is on!

In the middle of a small, drought-stricken town in the 1930's, when everyone is longing for rain, or a even a breeze, Lizzie meets a dashing Rainmaker and her life is forever changed. 110 in the Shade, Richard Nash's lyrical adaptation of his gentle comedy The Rainmaker, is a deeply moving musical with a soaring and passionate score created by the Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones, who gave us The Fantasticks, Celebration! and I Do, I Do.

One of the most beautiful and memorable musicals ever written, this sometimes overlooked gem is a tale of faith and the miracles of life and love. 110 in the Shade was nominated for four Tony awards in 1965 and the 2007 revival was nominated for five.

Directed by Zach Spencer and produced by Brynn Guthrie Spencer, this enchanting musical comedy opens at the Conejo Players Theatre in Thousand Oaks on Friday, August 24, 2007 and runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoon through September 22.

This production is a glorious mix of haunting songs, joyous dance sequences, and magical stage moments in which you can lose yourself right up to the final curtain. The story follows the Curry family of Lizzie, her father H.C., and her two brothers Noah and Jimmy, all of whom are trying to get Lizzie suitably married off. The boys think File, the local sheriff, would be a fine catch. Then along comes Starbuck, the strong and dashing rainmaker, and Lizzie's life is turned upside down!

Melora Hutton plays the spinsterish yet hopeful Lizzie with a gentle humor and wisdom that paints the character's conflicting bitterness and optimism as complimentary traits

Television veteran Patrick Foley is the exciting and powerful Starbuck, a conman posing as a rainmaker.

Sheriff File, the town's most eligible yet reluctant bachelor, is played by Aaron Vidal.

Jim Seerden plays Lizzie's father, the reliably rustic H.C. Curry.

Dustin Velasquez and James Cluster are Lizzie's brothers Noah and Jimmy.

The lovely and talented Abby Collins plays the boy crazy "Snookie".

Rounding out this fabulous cast are John Bravos, Bennie Glasner, Tori Glasner, Penny Krevenas, Brandi Raibley, Linda Schaver, Selby Schnobrich, Jonathan Scott, and Kaye Zimmermann
