Workshops are geared towards newcomers to theatre
and cover a wide variety of audition elements. Students will learn about and practice
basic audition tips, cold readings, choreography, picking and singing a song,
and improvisation/theatre games. The
second day consists of Mock Auditions where students will audition for an
imaginary show. A team of community
theatre experts will provide feedback for students to take home

performing a song, what kinds of dramatic choices the student can make and

Workshop will include stage managers
responsibilities, people skills and calling a show and will include practical
experience.
Jim
has stage managed, tech’d and acted in many shows
the past 32 years – and some shows were a mixture of some or all of those
jobs. Among the most notable local
organizations Jim has stage managed shows are Conejo Players Theatre, Santa
Susanna Reporatory Company, and Kingsmen Shakespeare Company. |

PROP DESIGN

An overview of lessons learned and techniques used over 25 years of community theatre prop work. Emphasis on Special Props and Special Effects -- maximizing impact while minimizing costs and hazards. The sessions will be informal with open discussions and will include examples and demonstrations. Handout materials and samples will be available. Participants invited to bring in their own work to the second session for group discussion.

ACTING OUT VOCALS FOR TEENS AND ADULTS

Class Limit: 20
Workshop will focus on picking songs for students
repertoire, vocal work and acting work. Students should have some experience with musical theater and/or
auditions.
Erin found her vocal talent in her teen years and went on to attend and graduate from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (“AMDA”) in NYC. She has been a performer, leading lady, and director for numerous productions in various theatres throughout the county for the past 20 years.

SINGING CLASS FOR ADULTS
Instructor: Linda Stiegler
Wednesdays, October 6 - 27

Ages 16 and up
Class Limit: 20
Workshop will include phrasing, dynamics and
breath control.
Linda has performed as a leading lady for numerous theatres across the country and Southern California, and has been director, music director and conductor for at least 65 productions as well. She started teaching piano at the age of 16 at the urging of her piano teacher and has also been a vocal coach for over 30 years.
