Staff: Performances: Show Synopsis: Audition Information: ALL AUDITIONERS MUST PREPARE A SONG FOR AUDITIONS AND BRING MUSIC. Children: prepare 16 bars/1 minute of a musical theatre song. An accompanist will be available or a CD with background music (no vocals) can be used. Teens/Adults: prepare 16 bars/1 minute of a musical theatre song. Those auditioning for the Narrator, Joseph, or the Brothers should have a contrasting piece ready in case requested. An accompanist will be available or a CD with background music (no vocals) can be used. Auditions will consist of singing, cold readings, and a movement component for all teens/adults. Please wear or bring comfortable clothes and shoes you can move in (no flip flops please!) Please bring a headshot and resume (if available) and a list of all potential conflicts including holiday travel, etc. Will work with conflicts but must know about them up front. No performance conflicts allowed. Narrator(s) – Alto/Soprano (low B to high G) – Storyteller/narrator(s) for the evening, warm and passionate, narrates the story. Must be an excellent singer/belter, have great energy and help carry the show. Joseph – Tenor (low B to solid F) – The favorite and youngest son. Joseph is idealistic, handsome, kind, honest and in good physical condition. He has been blessed with the ability to interpret dreams and tell the future. Must be charismatic and a great singer. Pharaoh – Baritone – Must have good comic sense and ability to emulate the moves and singing style of Elvis. May also double as other part(s) Potiphar – Potiphar (low D to B) is Joseph’s rich boss. The Donald Trump of his time. May also double as other part(s) Joseph’s Brothers – in order or eldest to youngest: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Napthali, Isaachar, Asher, Dan, Zebulun, Gad, Judah & Benjamin. All are conniving, self-centered, and jealous of Joseph. Must be strong singers and movers with good energy. Mrs. Potiphar – Alto (low B to A) – The seductive wife of Potiphar who attempts to lure Joseph astray. Also part of the ensemble. Preferably a dancer who is very flexible. Baker – Tenor (F to high G) – An unfortunate person who fell out of favor with the Pharaoh. While in jail, has a dream Joseph interprets. Sings a solo and may double as a brother or other male role Butler – Tenor (F to high G) - An unfortunate person who fell out of favor with the Pharaoh. While in jail, has a dream Joseph interprets. Sings a solo and may double as a brother or other male role Ensemble - Wives, Slaves, Potiphar gang, etc. Teen to adult. All sing and move. Dancing is a definite plus for the women, as there are places to feature them, but not all members of the ensemble need to be dancers. Children – children will be used in this show. They will start off as students and get “sucked into” the story as it comes to life around them. Must sing well and be able to focus. Age TBD but no younger than 7. |
