SHOW INFORMATION:
As big as Broadway itself, the friendship of Bert Williams and Eddie Cantor carried them through union upheaval and racial unrest. The setting is that early 20th Century show of shows, THE ZIEGFELD FOLLIES. Bert Williams had already played Broadway in all-black shows with his partner George Walker, but no black man had ever had a leading role in a white show like the Follies before Ziegfeld. 24 year old Jewish, comedian Eddie Cantor was barely surviving in burlesque when signed by Ziegfeld. Featuring songs and routines by Bert Williams and Eddie Cantor, the book reveals comedic and dramatic relationships with W.C. Fields, writer Ring Lardner, and Florenz Ziegfeld. Bert’s wife, Lottie; his old partner George Walker; a song-and-dance jazz team of Bo and Jo; and the lovely-to-look-at Ziegfeld girls perform.  Nostalgic highlights punctuate this musical show within a musical show.
