From the Director

Conejo Players Children’s Theatre is thrilled to present the newest and possibly the funniest retelling of the classic tale of CINDERELLA, a tale that has been told for generations all over the world, from Russia to Norway, to Italy to Serbia.  With book and music by our own Cheryl Talbot of PETER AND WENDY fame, this tale has all the usual characters – a mean step-mother, warring step-sisters and a prince looking the perfect bride. But this CINDERELLA also hosts a few new characters, including three bumbling, comic courtiers, a samba-dancing garden, a kind but wacky cook, an eccentric, other-worldly magic seamstress and her well-meaning, meddling husband whose magic has gone kaput.

This play is chock-full of farcical, sometimes slapstick silliness, a pinch of fantasy and magic here and there and, of course, a Prince’s search for true love. With songs like Cinderella Move!, If Life Gives You Lemons and The Rumor Song, this fast-moving production playfully tells the story of how ‘one shoe can change your life’!

Directed by Rosemary Moffat, produced by Deidre Parmenter, musically directed by Linda Stiegler and choreographed by Jennifer Jones, our production staff has carefully crafted a cast of 26 fabulously funny youthful players, ages 8 to 16, >hailing from Thousand Oaks to Santa Paula.  Because this is Children’s Theater, we have also employed a student production staff that includes Ian McLean as Assistant Director, Stephanie Demerjian as Assistant Choreographer and Amanda McCabe as Cast Line Producer.
